Heritage
Breed Layers
Our chicken egg laying flock includes Barred Rock, Araucana and
Buff Orpington chickens. Additionally, we have Key West bantam hens
that eagerly take on brooding duties to hatch out new chicks, whether
their eggs or other breeds.
Unlike modern factory farming which favors the use of a few highly
specialized breeds selected for maximum output, we're committed to
preserving heritage breeds. Genetically diverse, heritage breeds tend
to have better disease resistance, retain characteristics for survival
and self-sufficiency, and thrive in pasture-based settings. Many
heritage breeds are in danger of extinction. By placing our food
security on a few specialized breeds, we're literally placing our
proverbial "eggs all in one basket".
Muscovy
Ducks for Eggs and Meat
We raise Muscovy ducks which tend to be heavier than other
domesticated ducks, making them ideal for the dinner table. They are
also great at pest control and produce eggs that are wonderful for
baking.

Bourbon Red Turkeys
Listed on the
American Livestock Breeds Conservancy conservation priority list
as "watch" status, Bourbon Red turkeys are making a comeback as diners
rediscover their superior flavor. Order a heritage turkey for your
Thanksgiving table.
